Inés Abernathy

Editor-in-Chief

Inés Abernathy founded The Compound Journal in January 2024 after eleven years covering pharmaceutical manufacturing and generic-drug supply for two trade weeklies, where she ran the desk that broke the 2019 valsartan nitrosamine recall chain three days ahead of the regulatory notice.

She writes the back page, sets the Journal’s standards policy, and personally signs off every correction. Her position on the incretin story is that it is a manufacturing story first and a clinical story second: the molecules were characterised twenty years ago, and almost everything now contested — potency, sterility, provenance, price — happens between a reactor and a vial.

She does not accept speaking fees from manufacturers, pharmacies or testing laboratories, and the Journal’s funding disclosure lists every sponsor by name.
