We set none

Not analytics cookies, not preference cookies, not session cookies, not "strictly necessary" cookies. This is a static site: every page is a file, there are no accounts, no sessions and no server-side state, so there is nothing for a cookie to remember. That is why you have not been shown a consent banner — there is nothing to consent to.

What we use instead

Nothing. The search page loads a static JSON index and filters it in your browser; the calculators compute in the page; the reference tools store no preferences. If you close the tab, the site has no record that you were here beyond the server log described in our privacy policy.

What a third party may still do

• Google Fonts. Typefaces are loaded from that service, so your browser makes a request to it and it will see your IP address and user agent. It does not, on its documented behaviour, set a cookie for font delivery. If you would rather it did not happen at all, a font-blocking extension or a browser setting will stop it, and the site remains perfectly readable in a fallback serif and sans.
• Advertiser destinations. Sponsor units are static links. If you follow one you leave this site and the destination’s cookies and tracking apply. We have no visibility into that and no involvement in it.
• Your own tools. Reader-mode extensions, archiving services and corporate proxies may store things. That is between you and them.

Local storage

We do not write to localStorage or sessionStorage. No part of the site depends on either, and no part of it degrades if both are blocked.

If this changes

It will be announced in an editor’s letter and dated on this page, and if we ever set a cookie that is not strictly necessary you will be asked first. Questions: standards@compoundjournal.com.
