Ireland health authority warns on falsified semaglutide pens

TheCompound Journal
Reporting on incretins, compounding & the peptide supply chain
Twice this month a company answered a question we had been asking for more than a year. Neither answer was flattering to the company and both were more useful than a year of press releases. I record it here because this department spends a good deal of its time noting who does not answer, and fairness requires the same prominence for those who do.
In this number, 60 pieces across 8 departments, with 110 further dispatches filed from the newsroom and 30 contributors on the page. We lead with Noor Haddadin on Every step between the laboratory report and the product page removes information, and the badge is the last step and set beside it Priya Ramanathan, PharmD in Patient Notes. Part 3 of The Identity Problem continues on the inside pages.
The regulatory picture keeps reminding everybody of something structural: a permission granted because of a shortage does not survive the shortage. That was foreseeable, it was foreseen in these pages, and it has now happened to businesses that planned otherwise and to patients who were not consulted. The commercial story is a story about risk. The patient story is a story about sixty days’ notice.
Nothing in this journal is medical advice, and several of the compounds discussed in it are sold for research use only and are not approved for human use anywhere. That sentence appears in every issue because it is true in every issue.
